Hello
Please can you help me with a query?
I was in a large supermarket today. It had an excellent range of bottled ciders from a large number of producers many of whom produce real draught ciders which are sold on tap from containers in public houses and at beer festivals. Upon inspection, I noticed that they all contained sulphites. Please can you tell me if this is the nature of the bottled beast and that according to the definition "Real Cider" they do not qualify as real? If they are not, please can you tell me if any producer sells real cider in bottles.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Cheers
David

How do,
The answer to your question is that it is a legal requirment for producers to label there product may contain traces of sulphites. Although the product may not contain any!!!!! The problem is in sterilization of bottles ,caps etc. This where the product may come into contact with the sulphites.

Re sulphites - I have a blood Gamma-gt reading that's too high, if I stay off the cider it goes down, ( I only drink cider here, beer overseas if no cider available) According to the lables sulphites are added to preserve freshness, Does 'REAL cider' contain sulphites ?
