I want to make cider from the apple tree in our back yard. They tasted great this year, but when I put them in a food processor to chop them up prior to pressing, the result seemed so dry, like wood chips, that I didn't think any amount of pressure would squeeze much juice out of them. I got discouraged and made applesauce instead. With enough water, that tasted great too. Next year, should I just go ahead and try to press the heck out of them? Or maybe add a little water to the mash and let it sit for a while?
